5Acts "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (NKJV)

  2. John says that Jesus gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins.
John 20
23 "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." (NKJV)

  3. Jesus had commanded the apostles. They obeyed by "waiting in Jerusalem" until they received the power of the Holy Spirit.
a. The first sign was to speak in other languages so that the visitors to Jerusalem could understand them.

b. They witnessed Jesus to the people by commanding them to obey Jesus' comnmands.
    1) They had to believe
    2) They had to repent
    3) They had to be baptized
    4) They had to continue in all of Jesus' commands.
