Text[0]="&nbsp;1. Moses led the Israelites from the Red Sea south toward Mount Sinai.";
Text[1]="&nbsp;2. The way led through the Wilderness of Shur. Here the people found little water or green grass. In Egypt they had been surrounded by irrigated fields with fresh vegetables.";
Text[2]="&nbsp;3. The people found water at Marah, but it was bitter. When they grumbled against Moses, God told him to throw a tree into the water. Now the water became sweet so all could drink it.";
Text[3]="&nbsp;4. Next they came to the oasis of Elim, which had 12 springs of water and 70 palm trees.";
Text[4]="&nbsp;5. From Elim they traveled through a hot, sandy area to the Wilderness of Sin.";
Text[5]="&nbsp;6. Here the people murmured against Moses, because their food was running out. "+speechstr+"You have brought us here to starve in the Wilderness,"+speechstr+" they cried.";
Text[6]="&nbsp;7. Moses answered, "+speechstr+"You have grumbled against God, not only against us. Now, tonight He will give you plenty of meat to eat. Tomorrow you will have enough bread to eat."+speechstr+"";
Text[7]="&nbsp;8. That night God sent quail, which had flown across the Red Sea and fell exhausted in the camp of Israel. The people had more than enough meat to eat.";
Text[8]="&nbsp;9. The next morning they found something round on the ground which they called "+speechstr+"manna."+speechstr+" They were told that this was the bread which God had promised. They were to pick up a certain amount per person each day.";
Text[9]="&nbsp;10. From the Wilderness of Sin the people left the west coast of Sinai and walked through a rocky valley to the oasis of Rephidim.";
Text[10]="&nbsp;11. Here they found no water and became very angry. "+speechstr+"Give us water to drink,"+speechstr+" they demanded of Moses. "+speechstr+"You have brought us out of Egypt to die of thirst!"+speechstr+"";
Text[11]="&nbsp;12. Moses cried to God, "+speechstr+"What shall I do? They are about to stone me!"+speechstr+" God told him to go to a large rock and hit it with his stick.";
Text[12]="&nbsp;13. Moses hit a rock with his stick, and water gushed out. Now there was plenty of water for all to drink.";
Text[13]="&nbsp;14. Desert people known as Amalekites came to fight the Israelites. Joshua led an army to fight against them.";
Text[14]="&nbsp;15. While Joshua and his soldiers were fighting, Moses held up his hands. As long as his hands were up, the Israelites won. Aaron and Hur helped Moses to keep his hands up.";
Text[15]="&nbsp;16. At sunset Joshua and his men had won a great victory over the Amalekites.";
Text[16]="&nbsp;17. From Rephidim the Israelites went on through a rocky valley to a plain in front of Mount Sinai in the Horeb range of mountains.";
