 Text[0]="&nbsp;1.The children of Israel stayed at Mount Sinai for almost a year. Then they traveled north to Kadesh-Barnea.";
Text[1]="&nbsp;2. Moses chose one man from each of the twelve tribes and told them, "+speechstr+"Go up to Canaan and see what kind of country it is. Find out what kind of people live there. Bring back some of its fruit to show us."+speechstr+"";
Text[2]="&nbsp;3. The spies knew that the people of Canaan were watching for them. So they traveled east to Edom. Here they traveled north on the King's Highway to Rehob, north of the Sea of Galilee.";
Text[3]="&nbsp;4. They looked the land of Canaan over from north to south. They saw that it was a beautiful country with fields of grain and hillsides growing grapes and olives.";
Text[4]="&nbsp;5. They saw towns with high walls and strong gates.";
Text[5]="&nbsp;6. When they came to Hebron in the south, the spies picked some figs and pomegranates to bring back with them.";
Text[6]="&nbsp;7. They also picked a large bunch of grapes to take back with them. This was carried on a pole between two men.";
Text[7]="&nbsp;8. When they came back to Kadesh­Barnea, ten of the spies told Moses, Aar­on, and the people, "+speechstr+"Canaan is a beautiful country, but its towns and people are just too strong for us!"+speechstr+"";
Text[8]="&nbsp;9. But Caleb, one of the spies, said, "+speechstr+"Remember, God promised to give us the land. He will keep His promise"+speechstr+"";
Text[9]="&nbsp;10. When the people murmured against God, Moses and Aaron became very sad. Joshua and Caleb tore their clothes and said to the people, "+speechstr+"Don't rebel against God. Trust in Him, He will give us the land of Canaan."+speechstr+"";
Text[10]="&nbsp;11. When God wanted to destroy the people, Moses begged God not to do it. Finally God said, "+speechstr+"Except for Joshua and Caleb, all who are now 20 years and older will not get to go into the land of Canaan."+speechstr+"";
Text[11]="&nbsp;12. The next morning the people wanted to go up and fight the Amalekites and Canaanites. Moses told them, "+speechstr+"You will lose; you are sinning against God!"+speechstr+" But the people would not listen.";
Text[12]="&nbsp;13. The people went to fight anyway but they were badly beaten and many of them were killed.";
Text[13]="&nbsp;14. For the next 38 years the people of Israel lived in the Wilderness of Sinai. Much of the time they went in and around Kadesh-Barnea.";
Text[14]="&nbsp;15. One day Korah, Dathan and Abiram and 250 important men of Israel rebelled against Moses and Aaron. "+speechstr+"Why do you make yourself ruler over us?"+speechstr+" they asked.";
Text[15]="&nbsp;16. To punish them for rebelling, God had the earth swallow up the three and their families. The 250 other men were killed by fire.";
Text[16]="&nbsp;17. The next day the people told Moses and Aaron, "+speechstr+"You killed these people!"+speechstr+"";
Text[17]="&nbsp;18. To punish the people, God sent a plague and many died. But Moses sent Aaron to bring an offering of incense to save the people. Then the plague stopped.";
