When you have a problem, would you try to get help from one of these statues? Probably not, because they are not alive. They can\'t think or talk or move. They can\'t see or hear or taste or smell. They\'re just things people have made of wood or stone or metal.'; Text[1]='  2. The Bible tells us that many people believed that these statues-or idols-were gods who would help them. Instead of worshiping God, the people worshiped idols like this one. They prayed to their idols. They brought the idols special gifts, hoping the idols would help them. Of course, the idols couldn\'t help the people. After all, the idols were\'t even alive!'; Text[2]='  3. There were also many Bible people who did not worship those idols-they worshiped God. They knew that God is ALIVE. He can see and hear and help His people. He is the only true and living God.'; Text[3]='  4. God sent a man named Isaiah to tell people not to worship idols. He said, "This idol can\'t do ANYTHING for you. You are praying to something that can\'t answer your prayers since it can\'t even hear your prayers. Idols don\'t know anything"'; Text[4]='  5. lsaiah also told the people about some of the things God knows-since He knows everything that has ever happened and everything that is going to happen. Isaiah told the people that God said a wonderful thing was going to happen. "A special child will be born: Isaiah told them. "God will send His own Son, who will grow up to be wise and very powerfuL'; Text[5]='  6. Many years went by after Isaiah said those words. Then one day, a man named Jesus began to teach people in the Temple. The Temple was a special building where Bible people went to worship God.'; Text[6]='  7. Jesus told the people, "I have come from my Father, God, to tell you things He wants you to know. If you will obey me, you will never have to wonder what is really true. Instead, you will know what is true." Jesus was telling the people that HE was the person Isaiah had told about. Jesus said that He was the special person God had sent.'; Text[7]='  8. Some of the people did not like what Jesus was saying. They had read what Isaiah said about God sending His Son. But they did not believe that Jesus was the one Isaiah told about. They just would not believe that Jesus is God\'s Son. The people said to Jesus, "You cannot prove that what you are saying is true." They were calling Jesus a liar.'; Text[8]='  9. "1 am telling the truth," Jesus answered. "I only do what my Father sent me to do." Then Jesus said, "If you do not believe that I am who I say I am, you will not live forever with God."'; Text[9]='  10. Those people still did not believe Jesus! "How can you say these things? Who do you think you are?" they shouted.'; Text[10]='  11. "1 am God\'s Son," answered Jesus. "I have always been with God-since the very beginning of time."'; Text[11]='  12. That did it! The people picked up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus slipped away. God protected Jesus from the people who wanted to kill Him. However, there were many people who heard Jesus that day who DID believe what He taught. And those people began to love and obey Him just like we can do today.';
