After sunset on Saturday, members of the Council reminded Pilate that Jesus had promised to rise from the dead on the third day. They asked Pilate to make sure that the disciples did not have op­portunity to steal Jesus\' body and claim that Jesus had risen from the dead.'; Text[1]=' 2. The tomb was sealed and a guard of Roman soldiers was placed in front of . it. All that night the soldiers guarded the tomb.'; Text[2]=' 3. Early in the next morning, an angel rolled away the stone. He was bright as lightning with clothes white as snow. The guards were so frightened they fell down. '; Text[3]=' 4. Later when the soldiers reported this, the high priests gave them much money. They told the soldiers to say that His dIsciples had come at night and stolen Hi_ body. The priests promised the sold­iers they would not be punished for say­ing they were asleep while on duty. '; Text[4]=' 5. Very early that same morning, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Salome, and other women were going to the grave. They were bringing spices with which to anoint the body of Jesus. As they walked, they asked them­selves, "Who is going to roll the stone back from the doorway of the tomb? '; Text[5]=' 6. Looking up, to their great surprise they saw that the stone had been rolled away. Mary hurried away to tell Peter and John. But the other women went on to the grave. '; Text[6]=' 7. They went inside and found the tomb empty. '; Text[7]=' 8. Then they saw two men in dazzling white. The women were afraid. One angel said, "There is no need to be afraid. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth . . . He has risen; He is not here. Look, here is the place where they laid Him."'; Text[8]=' 9. "But now go and tell His disciples, and Peter, that He will be in Galilee before you. You will see Him there just as He told you."'; Text[9]=' 10. Happy, the women hurried away from the grave to tell the disciples. '; Text[10]=' 11. On the way back to Jerusalem Jesus greeted them and said, "Go now and tell my brothers to go into Galilee and they shall see me there."'; Text[11]=' 12. The women came to Jesus\' disciples and told them what they had seen and gave them Jesus message.'; Text[12]=' 13. Meanwhile, Mary Magdalene had hurried to tell John and Peter: "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb and we don\'t know where they have put Him."'; Text[13]=' 14. At once Peter and John hurried to the grave to see for themselves.'; Text[14]=' 15. John got to the grave first. He looked in but didn\'t go inside. Peter went right past John into the grave.'; Text[15]=' 16. Peter saw the linen wrappings and the head cloth rolled up in place by itself.'; Text[16]=' 17. Then John came in too. He saw and believed.
