Cornelius lived in Caesarea, the beautiful seaport and capital city of the Roman province of Judea. He was a captain in the Roman army.'; Text[1]='2. Cornelius had learned to know God while living among the Jews. He began to believe in Him and pray to Him.'; Text[2]='3. He also gave much money to help the poor in Caesarea. In this way he tried to show his love for God.'; Text[3]='4. One day, while Cornelius was praying, an Angel came and said, "Cornelius." Cornelius was very much afraid. "What is it?" he asked.'; Text[4]='5. The angel answered, "Your prayers have been heard. Now, send to the city of loppa for Simon Peter. He is staying with Simon the Tanner near the sea. He will tell you what to do to be saved."'; Text[5]='6. At once Cornelius sent two servants and a soldier south to Joppa to find Peter.'; Text[6]='7. In the meantime Peter was staying with Simon the Tanner in Joppa along the seashore.'; Text[7]='8. One day about noon, Peter went up to the roof to pray. He was hungry.'; Text[8]='9. While Peter was on the roof praying, he saw a large sheet coming down from heaven.'; Text[9]='10. In the sheet he sawall kinds of animals, some of which the Jews, by God\'s command, could not eat.'; Text[10]='11. A voice said, "Peter, kill and eat." "Oh, no! Lord!" Peter answered. "I\'ve never eaten meat of a forbidden animal!" The voice said, "Don\'t refuse what God now has not forbidden."'; Text[11]='12. Peter was puzzled by what had happened. He wondered what it could mean.'; Text[12]='13. In the meantime the men from Cornelius came to the door and asked for Peter.'; Text[13]='14. The Holy Spirit told Peter, "Three men are at the door looking for you. Go down and go with them. I have sent them to you."'; Text[14]='15. Peter went down and introduced himself to the men. They told him why Cornelius had sent them. Peter asked them to stay overnight.'; Text[15]='16. The next day, the three men, Peter and some of his friends left Joppa to walk north to Caesarea.'; Text[16]='17. When they arrived in Caesarea, Cornelius bowed down to Peter. But Peter said, "Cornelius, get up, I\'m only a man. "'; Text[17]='18. "Why did you send for me?" Peter asked. Then Cornelius told him how the angel had appeared to him.'; Text[18]='19. Many friends of Cornelius had come to hear Peter. He told them about Jesus and how He showed Himself to be the Savior. While Peter talked, the people received the Holy Spirit. Peter\'s friends were surprised to see this.'; Text[19]='20. Since these people had received the Holy Spirit, Peter had them baptized in the name of Jesus. Peter stayed with Cornelius for several days.';
