INTRODUCTION to Part 2 Esther, a Jewish orphan, was chosen to be queen of the Persian Empire and went to live in the King's palace. Haman, the prime minister, ordered everybody to bow before him. Everyone did except Esther's uncle Mordecai. Angry at Mordecai, Haman persuaded the King to give himself power to destroy all of the Jews in the Empire.
