Blood and Water in the Salvation of Man

Blood saved the Hebrews in Egypt  (Exodus 12:7; 12-13)

Water saved the Hebrews leaving Egypt   (Exodus 14:26)

Blood & water were required along with the Jews’ sacrifices

(Leviticus 17:14)

The sacrifice was washed before offering to God (Leviticus 1:9)

We come in contact with the Blood of Jesus thru the cup (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

We come in contact with the Water of Life thru Baptism   (Revelation 1:5)

Blood & water are necessary for our salvation

Both came from Jesus side (John 19:34)

Jesus part of our salvation was His body (John 1:29) “the lamb of God”

Our part in salvation is the sacrifice of our body (Romans 12:1)

Blood is holy:

“Life is in the blood” (Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:14)

O.T. eating blood prohibited (Genesis 9:4)

N.T. eating blood prohibited (Acts 15:20)

Jesus’ blood bought our salvation (Revelation 5:9)

“You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood”

the church which He purchased with His blood”   (Acts 20:28)

Blood from Jesus:

Blood from His back Matt. 27:26

o       The back that carried the cares of others.

Blood from His head Matt. 27:29-30

o       The head that was anointed King of heaven and earth

Blood from His hands John 20:20; 25; 27

o       The hands that reached out to the needy.

Blood from His side John 19:34

o       The side that doubting Thomas touched.

Blood from His feet Luke 7:38-46

o       The feet that carried hope to the hopeless

Blood flowed from head to foot
