The point is that since the acceptable faith comes by hearing and obeying Gods instructions, then God spoke through the patriarch.

The Egyptian army may have had faith in their Pharaohs orders, but the point is that theirs was not faith in the instructions of God.

How did these people of faith obtain a good testimony?

Through faith.

And we know what about faith?
The testimony came from God`s word.
