FINISH INTRODUCTION
The word covenant has the following meanings and
synonyms in the American Heritage Dictionary:
1. (n.) An often legally binding arrangement:
  • agreement • accord • arrangement • bargain
  • bond • compact • contract • convention • pact
  • transaction • settlement
2. (n.) A declaration that one will or won't do
something:

  • promise • agreement • assurance • bargain
  • bond • commitment • compact • contract
  • deal • guarantee • oath • pledge • surety • vow

There are two (2) major covenants [or agreements] that God arranged
with men through the ages. Unlike the "flood covenant" these were
like contracts. Men were obligated as well as God.
